AI4REALNET Workshop Explores Human-Centric AI and Trustworthy Design
On November 5, 2024, AI4REALNET, in collaboration with HumAIne, PEER AI, and Themis 5.0, hosted an engaging workshop titled “From Algorithms to Assurance: Designing Human-Centric AI to Enhance Collaboration, Trust, and Acceptance” at the AI, Data, Robotics Forum 2024. The event brought together researchers, industry professionals, and thought leaders to discuss how AI systems can be designed to prioritize trust, collaboration, and human values.
The workshop began with presentations from the participating projects—AI4REALNET, HumAIne, PEER AI, and Themis 5.0—highlighting the state-of-the-art in assessing human-AI trustworthiness. These presentations provided valuable insights into frameworks and methodologies for evaluating AI systems and ensuring alignment with human needs and ethical standards. Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of how trust can be embedded into AI technologies to improve user acceptance and productivity.
Following the presentations, experts shared practical examples of human-centric AI applications in domains such as healthcare, transportation, smart cities, and manufacturing. These case studies illustrated how innovative AI solutions are already transforming industries by enhancing decision-making and fostering collaboration between humans and machines.
The event concluded with a dynamic roundtable discussion on designing better human-centric AI systems. Moderated by experts from AI4REALNET and its sister projects, the session encouraged open dialogue among participants on pressing challenges, including data privacy, ethical concerns, and strategies for scaling up solutions. This collaborative exchange highlighted actionable paths forward for ensuring that AI remains a tool that serves human goals while adhering to ethical principles.
