AI4REALNET sets the pace at ECML PKDD 2025 conference

The AI4REANET project was involved in the organisation of two workshops that took place on the 15th of September, in the scope of the 2025 edition of the ECML PKDD – European Conference on Machine Learning and Principles and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases, this year happening in the city of Porto, Portugal.

The “AI for Safety-Critical Infrastructures” workshop showcased real-world examples and provided researchers with insights into AI applications within the safety-critical infrastructure domain. With the presence of about 20 researchers, the areas discussed in this workshop included reinforcement learning, human-AI interface design, interactive AI, physics-informed machine learning, data-driven simulation, explainable AI, AI ethics and regulation, human factors in AI, and socio-technical system design.

In turn, “The Machine Learning for Sustainable Power Systems” workshop brought together researchers in the fields of machine learning and energy systems. The nearly 30 participants had the chance to share their knowledge and experience in the field of AI applied to sustainable power systems.

From 15th to 19th of September, the ECML PKDD 2025 conference, the flagship European machine learning and data mining conference, attracted a worldwide audience of more than 1.000 participants. The conference program included presentations of peer-reviewed research, invited talks by leaders in the field, a wide program of workshops and tutorials, poster sessions, a discovery challenge, a demo track, an applied data science track, an industry track and a PhD forum.
